Interdisciplinary Research Culture Among Faculty Members at Al-Mahrah University and Ways to Enhance It.

This study aimed to explore the reality of the interdisciplinary research culture among faculty members at Al-Mahrah University and ways to enhance it. To achieve this objective, a descriptive analytical approach was employed, relying on a questionnaire developed by the researcher to collect data. The questionnaire consisted of 53 items distributed across three axes: 1. Interdisciplinary Research Culture (28 items) 2. Difficulties Facing Interdisciplinary Research (13 items) 3. Ways to Enhance Interdisciplinary Research (12 items)
The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed using appropriate scientific methods. The study sample consisted of 60 faculty members from various colleges at Al-Mahrah University, distributed according to the following variables: gender, college, qualification, academic degree, and experience. The sample was selected using simple random sampling.
The results showed that:
- The level of interdisciplinary research culture among faculty members at the university was low.
- The difficulties facing interdisciplinary research were highly challenging.
- Ways to enhance interdisciplinary research received a strong agreement score.
Significant differences were found in the mean scores of the axes and the third axis (Ways to Enhance Interdisciplinary Research) in favor of females and holders of Master's degrees. Additionally, differences were observed in the third axis based on the academic degree, with associate professors, assistant professors, and assistant lecturers scoring higher than professors. No significant differences were found based on the variables of college and years of experience.
In light of the study's findings and sample suggestions, the study presented development proposals for interdisciplinary research, along with several related recommendations and suggestions.
