The Repercussions of War and Armed Conflict on Sustainable Education in the Republic of Yemen (2011–2024)

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the repercussions of war and armed conflicts on sustainable education in Yemen for the period 2011-2024 AD, and to reveal the degree of impact of events accompanying conflicts on sustainable education. The descriptive approach and questionnaire were used to collect data from a random sample of (648) employees of educational institutions in Yemen, and the results concluded: that the repercussions of war and conflicts affected sustainable education to a very high degree; With an average of ; First came: the repercussions of the war on the quality and sustainability of education, with an average of, followed by the economic repercussions, then dropout and displacement, followed by its effects on the infrastructure, then the physical and psychological repercussions on members of educational institutions. The results showed that sustainable education was highly affected by events accompanying conflicts. With an average of (4.04); First came the impact: the war between the legitimate forces and the Houthis. Followed by: the closure of ports and airports, then the intervention of the coalition forces in the Yemen war, followed by the targeting of ships exporting Yemeni oil, and the effects of: the events of the overthrow of the regime in 2011 AD, and the transfer of the Central Bank from Sana'a to Aden, followed by the effect of: the targeting of ships in the Red Sea. Statistically significant differences emerged on the axis of the repercussions of war and conflicts on sustainable education. In favor of the sample category: (university level, and the Houthi-controlled area), while there were no significant differences attributed to the rest of the variables and on the second axis.
