Overview

The Education Faculty  in Mahrah is affiliated with Mahrah University. It was established in the academic year 1998-1999. It is considered an academic achievement for the governorate, but rather the only achievement in the field of university studies. In addition, it is the result of sincere efforts from the university leadership, represented by Prof. Ali Hood Ba-abbad; the former university president, and Prof. Hasan Muqbool Al-Ahdal; the former governor of Al-Mahra Governorate.

The Faculty  has two departments, Islamic studies and Arabic language, with more than (90) students at that time. Then Mathematics Department was launched in the year 1999-2000, and more than (32) students enrolled it. Moreover, English Language Department was also established in the year 2003-2004, with 65 male and female students. Now, the number of departments reached six departments: Islamic Studies, Quran Sciences, Arabic Language, Mathematics, English Language, and Social Studies.

The Faculty  seeks excellence and diversity in its academic research& scientific programs and outcomes to meet the requirements and needs of the local community and the regional environment.

Mission

Training and qualifying professional teachers, and providing them with the basic skills in their educational specializations, capable of dealing with contemporary challenges in the field of education.

Objectives

  • To prepare qualified teachers educationally, scientifically, psychologically, behaviorally and administratively.
  • To prepare qualified graduates who have the ability to deal with scientific developments and cultural changes.
  • To prepare scientifically and skillfully qualified cadres who possess the values ​​and behaviors that make them able to perform their scientific and educational mission and contribute to the development of society.
  • To link the Faculty  to the community through continuous communication with the community categories through the provision of various rehabilitation and training services such as: distance learning, continuing education, courses, etc.
  • To provide scientific consultation to governmental and private facilities and departments in order to raise their professional level to achieve the interests of society.
  • Activating direct scientific research towards educational problems in the local and regional community.
  • To prepare  special programs to qualify teachers and train them to raise the efficiency of unqualified teachers during service through distinguished programs.
  • To coordinate with education-related authorities to solve their problems and directing students’ research in this direction.
