Mahrah University is an authorized university established by a presidential decision No. (23) for the year 2022 from the president of the Yemeni Presidential Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, , and Dr. Anwer Mohammed Ali Kalshat has been appointed as its president in a decision No. (24) for the year 2022 AD.
Two colleges and a branch of the Faculty of Open Education joined from Hadramout University to Mahrah University.
One of these colleges is the College of Education in Al-Mahra that started in 1998 AD, the other one is the College of Applied & Human Sciences that was established in 2018 AD, and the Faculty of Open Education branch which was established in 2017 AD.
In the year 2023 AD, Mahrah University added 3 new colleges, which are:

College of Applied and Health Sciences
The branch of the College of Open Education has been transformed into the College of Open Education.

The College of Education has master’s programs that opened in the academic year 2018/2019 and grants master’s degrees in the following departments and majors:
1- Department of Islamic Studies: Master’s degree in jurisprudence and its origins, interpretation and Qur’anic sciences
2- Department of Arabic Language: MA in Literature and Criticism, Language and Grammar.
3- Department of Education and Psychology: Master’s degree in Curriculum and Teaching Methods.
4- Department of English: MA in Linguistics.
New master’s and PhD. programs will be opened at the College of Education in the next academic year 2023/2024, as follows:
